Whether you are trying to find out how to stop payment on Spotify or simply want to cancel your account, there are a few things you need to know.
Cancel through iTunes
Streaming services like Spotify are convenient ways to access your media library. However, the monthly payments can pile up over time. Rather than continue paying, it may be easier to cancel your subscription.
You can do this online or in the app. To get started, log into your Spotify account through your web browser or mobile device. If you are unable to sign into your account, contact customer support. They will walk you through the process.
Once you’ve logged in, click on the name in the top right corner of the screen. You’ll be redirected to your account page. You’ll then see the type of subscription you are paying for. Typically, Spotify Premium is a paid subscription, starting at $9.99 a month. To cancel your subscription, scroll down and select Change Plan.
If you have already signed up for Premium, you can cancel your subscription through the Spotify website or iOS settings. You’ll also have the option of contacting Spotify directly to cancel your subscription.
You’ll need to be signed into your Spotify account with your Apple ID. You can use your email address, or you can create a password. Once you’ve signed in, choose Change Plan and follow the steps. Alternatively, you can contact the third party company that you used to subscribe to Spotify, like Google Play or Hulu. You can find their contact information by clicking on the Payment tab.
Once you’ve made a payment through iTunes, you can continue to use Spotify. Your saved playlists will still be saved, but you won’t have access to the Premium service until the next billing date. Until then, you’ll be able to play with ads.
If you aren’t sure if you’ve signed up for a Premium subscription, you can check your subscription page. You’ll be able to see when you’ll transition back to the free version of Spotify. When you’re ready to close your account, visit the Close Account Support page.
You can also contact your credit card company to cancel your account. However, if you signed up for a Premium subscription through another company, you will have to follow the cancellation process.
Cancel through the web
Luckily, there’s a quick way to cancel your Spotify payment through the web. You may not even know it. However, if you want to get a refund for a past month, you’ll need to contact customer support.
To get started, you’ll need to log into your account using a desktop or mobile web browser. When you do, you’ll be presented with a list of your subscriptions. You’ll need to select your Spotify account from the list. You can also opt to close your account or share it with another person.
Once you’ve selected your account, you’ll be taken to a new page. This is where you can choose to “change plan” or to “cancel premium.” You can then select one of the plans and click through. You’ll then be brought to a page where you can complete the cancellation form.
Once you’ve finished, you’ll be taken to a final confirmation page. You’ll be given a short questionnaire that asks why you decided to cancel your account. If you answered the questions correctly, you’ll be granted access to the free version of Spotify until your next billing date.
If you answered the question wrong, or you’re not sure why you’re asking, you’ll be given a chance to change your mind. If you decide to keep your premium account, you’ll be given a short period of time before all of the features are disabled. After that, you’ll be returned to the free tier.
If you’re still having problems, you can contact Spotify’s customer support. They’ll respond to your request within 24 hours. If they can’t help you, you can try to use a different email address for the account. You’ll also be able to view your transaction history on your web browser.

Cancel after the free trial
Whether you’re using Spotify on a desktop browser or on your mobile device, you can cancel the premium subscription after the free trial period. But if you’ve already signed up, you may need to contact the customer service team for help.
To cancel your subscription, you’ll first need to log into your Spotify account. Click the Profile icon on the top right corner of the website, and then click the drop-down menu to see your options. There, you’ll find a cancellation button. When you click the button, you’ll be directed to a form where you’ll provide your reason for cancelling.
After you complete the form, you’ll receive a message that says “Cancel.” You can then do so. Depending on how you paid, the refund will take anywhere from three to five business days. If you don’t want to wait for a refund, you can either contact your credit card company or try to dispute the charge.
Once you’ve done this, you’ll be returned to the free plan. You’ll still have access to all the features of the free version, including the ability to listen to music with ads. But you’ll also have to pay for the music you download. That’s because the songs are not saved as local files on your computer.

Before you can cancel your subscription, you must first turn off Auto-Renewal. To do this, you’ll need to go to the Subscriptions section of the website. You’ll also need to make sure you’re not paying for the Spotify subscription through a third party.

To cancel the Premium service, you’ll need to log into your account. Once you’re logged in, you’ll see a button to the right of the “Spotify Premium” heading on the left side of the page.
